Chris joined the Club in 1993 when we were at the Railway Tavern in Langley Mill and quickly became a very popular and valued member. His infectious humour and sense of fun outshone his modelling skills which, by his own admission, were not that good! We tried our best to show him how it should be done but, alas, with limited success. He was a school teacher and really enjoyed Club life as an escape from the pressures of work and would always try to be involved in exhibitions we attended. The Club moved to Heanor Welfare in 1997 and later, in 2012, Chris moved home to Mansfield giving him a 32 mile round trip on clubnights. This eventually became a strain and he decided to leave us, but always helped out if needed and attended every one of our shows from 2003 until 2020. He often acted as Announcements Manager, as well as helping out on stalls and layouts, when required.
A great guy and a great loss at just 72. All members send our condolences to his wife, Sue, and their two sons, Alistair and Dougie.
